Review: Le Bistrot du Paradou
The village of Le Paradou is just south of Les Baux, surrounded by olive groves, on the Roman road that connected Arles and Aix en Provence. It’s sidewalk restaurant, Le Bistrot du Paradou, exemplifies the good life in Provence--a lovely setting under ancient platane trees, a relaxed service “à la bonne franquette”,[i] and outstanding Provençal specialties. You will spend 2 or more hours at the table soaking up the ambiance, and flavors. The four-course meal features a “plat du jour” that rotates weekly.
[i] A French expression meaning “informal.” The food is served family style on long tables. The waiters at Le Paradou are outstanding at setting the tone, convivial and lively!
